While the size of Imalent BL70 is identical to Imalent BL50, there are some differences:
- XHP70.2 HD (BL70) vs. XHP50.3 HI (BL50)
- blue grippy surface (BL70) vs. slick surface (BL50)
- extra red light (BL70) vs. extra UV-light (BL50)
I like both lights a lot. I think the slick surface of BL50 looks more exquisite, but the blue grippy part of BL70 is an advantage when its becoming relevant to maintain a secure grip under difficult conditions.
While the BL70 has double the amount of lumens compared to BL50, these 6000 lumens provide much more light in close to middle distances. When you are looking for more throwing distance, then the BL50 is the better choice because it throws the light further. But of course the BL50 loses the comparison in the close to middle distances.
About the extra light being red or UV it is also a matter of individual preferences.
As i said, i like both lights. That useful digital display and the impressive output/performance of these lights in a very compact format warrants that i keep both of them.
If Imalent wants to know what could be better: The protruding rubber cover of the USB-C charging port is not a good solution. While its not a problem to open it, it somehow bothers me that its not plain to the surface.
Also, on my BL50 this rubber cover got lost somehow. I dont know how and where i lost it, but it probably was just ripped off accidentially because it was not a plain surface but protruding too much.
Finally, i can completely recommend Imalent BL70 and BL50 as well. Which light fits your preferences better is something that you will probably have to answer yourself.
Or you do it as i did: Buy both and be happy!
i love flashlights and have 2 other headlamps but once i figured out how to operate it correctly it is by far the best
